About AURORA

A passionate educator for over 30 years,

Aurora Medina knows that every student is unique. Accordingly, Aurora works with each student to discover their superpower. From learning how they learn best, to navigating their interests, learning profiles, and even their value system, Aurora teaches students how to highlight their superpowers and tell their distinctive, value-driven stories so that they stand out on college applications, essays, and resumes.

Throughout her career, Aurora has successfully guided countless students in navigating the selective and highly selective college admissions process.

As a first-generation high school graduate, full-ride recipient of the Woodard Memorial Scholarship, and graduate of Adams State University, Aurora earned a BA in English and Secondary Education, and an MA in Secondary School Counseling. She received certifications in Adolescent Literacy from the University of Colorado at Denver, School Administration from Western Colorado University, and Career Pathways Leadership from the National Career Pathways Network.

She taught high school yearbook, newspaper, journalism, creative writing, and reading for eleven years, and she’s been a licensed secondary school counselor since 1999. In addition to teaching and counseling, Aurora is the award-winning, founding principal of an early college high school and career pathways program. After retiring from public education, Aurora went on to work as the director of college and transition counseling at a prominent independent school that serves bright students with learning differences.

Aurora is the proud mother of a Stanford University graduate (class of 2021), who majored in electrical engineering!

She is a Professional Member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the Rocky Mountain Association of College Admission Counseling (RMACAC), and the Colorado Council on High School/College Relations (CCHS/CR). Additionally, Aurora is an Associate Member the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA).

In her spare time, Aurora enjoys writing, reading YA books, and walking her rescue dog, Luna.
